My Beginnings
In 1971, two people kissed. This caused abdominal swelling. Nine months later, I decided to introduce myself and see if I could help. I was able to significantly reduce the swelling, pain, and other serious side effects, and she eventually made a full recovery. She was so grateful that she started referring to me as her son. Moral of the story? I’m a problem solver, and I’m on your side. Also, kissing can be dangerous.
Welcome to the World Wide Web
When my age was in the single digits, one of my mom’s friends sent a Texas Instruments computer. Yes, those really existed. It came with one game which I played until I decided to make my own. So I taught myself how to program in Basic, and since this was before floppy disks existed, I discovered how to save my work to an audio cassette tape.
Today, I’ve been working as a professional website developer since 2005, and as a freelancer since 2007. During those 18 years, I’ve coded everything from simple blogs and educational games to custom shopping carts and advanced data management systems. Whatever you throw at me, I can make it happen.
Error-Eliminating Grammar Ninja
Prior to that, I worked at a publishing company designing books about collectibles and antiques. I worked with the proofreaders and, combined with my English and grammar education from two vocational colleges, became proficient in spotting and correcting mistakes.
When people read the text on your site, will they see a highly-polished presentation or a jumbled mess? Missed or incorrect punctuation? Spelling errors? Grammatical nightmares? We all make them. Catching and correcting them is a final and vitally-important step most of us miss.
With experience in the publishing industry and years of freelance work proofreading text, images, and other presentation formats, I’ll carefully and meticulously examine every aspect of your written content and polish it to perfection.
Errors are easy to make, and they can turn a prospective customer, client, or user into someone who closes your site never to return. Let’s work together to make sure your website copy is pristine and makes you stand out from the error-haunted crowd.
Music Makes Everything Better
Going further back in time, I was around four years old when the previously-bloated lady I mentioned earier, whom I’ve come to know and love as Mom, bought me a small keyboard. And I started picking out melodies.
A couple of years later, my grandmother bought us a piano. I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
I’m six years old, taking a nap in my mother’s bed when the sounds of piano music rouse me from my slumber. I stumble into the living room. And there I see a piano. Where did that come from? And it’s playing all by itself! Is it being played by a ghost? Am I still asleep? Such a funny feeling, as I’m sure you can imagine. I feel excited, perplexed, and more than a little bit in awe.
It was a player piano with paper scrolls full of carefully-placed rectangular holes designed to tell the piano what notes to play. But while that was entertaining enough to watch, I was more interested in creating my own music, and I quickly taught myself how to play.
Jumping forward to today, I can easily play whatever I hear or imagine. I’ve written dozens of songs, and recorded almost as many. You can find a small handful of them here.
Whether you wrote a song you’d like recorded, you wrote lyrics and want them set to music, or you’d like original background music to perfectly reflect and compliment your video or audio creations, let’s work together to create something you’ll be proud to call your own, something that will make you stand out from the crowd.
Speaking Better Than a Robot
Text-to-speech has come a long way, and it is increasingly used to create voice overs for videos and other media presentations. However, there’s only so much it can do, and it notoriously misses subtle inflections and emphases, things that are essential for fully communicating the emotions of your content. Those unexpressed feelings could make the difference in making a sale or gaining a member of your group, and losing them forever.
I’ve had well over a decade of public experience writing and voicing various presentations. And, unlike even the best text-to-speech engine on the market today, I can both understand and feel what you want to convey, and communicate to others exactly what you want them to hear.
Let’s work together to raise your content out of the vast sea of digital voices and elevate your presentations to the realm of human connections, ones that motivate your audience to take the actions you’ve worked so hard to inspire.
